Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan patches up

Bollywood's season of patch ups continues. The latest buzz is that Aamir Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are friends again. And the patch-up took place at Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna's exclusive wedding anniversary bash a couple of days back. Ash and Aamir shared cold vibes over the past five- odd years. The rift happened when Ash walked out on Aamir's film, Mangal Pandey.
A frustrated Aamir had to rope in Rani Mukherji for the role, originally offered to Ash, at the last moment. Since then, Aamir has avoided working with Ash.
Another reason forwarded so far is the fact that Aamir is a close buddy of Salman Khan, Ash's one-time boyfriend. The very ugly split between Salman and Ash a few years ago is public knowledge.
At Akshay's party, Ash took the initiative for a patch-up. Generally, the star actress reportedly doesn't like hanging around at parties for a long time and is known to leave after a few minutes.
On this occasion, when she heard that Aamir was on his way along with wife Kiran Rao, Ash chose to stay back. Once Aamir and Kiran arrived, Ash greeted them. Very soon, the three were chatting away merrily. Ash was reportedly very excited about Kiran's debut directorial feature Dhobi Ghat, which opens on January 21, 2011.
In fact, Ash left only after the Khans had made an exit. While Aamir has always been cordial with Amitabh Bachchan, this new development could mean the ice between him and Ash is finally about to thaw.
Incidentally, a few days back Ash had reportedly refused to perform her hit item number Kajra re with Aamir's arch rival Shah Rukh Khan at a function. She had insisted that she would only perform Kajra re with her father- in- law Amitabh Bachchan and hubby Abhishek.
Aamir and Ash have never starred in a film together, though they came close to being cast opposite each other in Mansoor Khan's film, Josh. Things, however, did not work out and Aamir made way for Chandrachur Singh opposite Ash. So far, Aamir and Ash have shared screen space only by way of a cameo in Dharmesh Darshan's dud Mela, besides a cola ad-film in the early nineties.
Meanwhile, Ash seems all set to share screen space with husband Abhishek once again in Rajkumar Santoshi's upcoming romantic comedy. Originally, Santoshi had offered the role to Katrina Kaif. However, despite having worked with Santoshi in the blockbuster Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Katrina couldn't spare dates for the movie. The film, Abhi-Ash's first joint outing after the dud Raavans, is called Ladies And Gentlemen.
