Salman vs Amitabh on television

It seems that after Salman left a channel high and dry on Dus Ka Dum, Season 3, they are quite miffed with the actor. The channel is now planning to put their tried-and-tested trump card Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 on air on the same date as the launch of Bigg Boss 3 by a competing channel. This head-on collision between the two channels is a consequence of the fact that the channel that aired Dus Ka Dum is ostensibly wanting to get even with Salman after he crossed over to Bigg Boss.

According to a source, the fallout between Salman and the channel did not happen only over money. "Salman shocked the channel by saying that he was interested in doing Kaun Banega Croreopati 4," adds the source, "For this, Salman had sent feelers to the channel via the production house. This was when the channel was in advanced talks with Mr Bachchan."
We knew that both Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 and Bigg Boss 3 were to be launched end of this year. But now, both shows will be aired on the same date and the same time in mid-October. In a startling revelation, a top source from the television industry told Mumbai Mirror, "Kaun Banega Crorepati 4 will lock horns with Bigg Boss 3.
It will be an interesting battle." Apparently, the channel in question will wait for the Bigg Boss 3 date to be announced by its counterpart, and then announce the date when they are launching Kaun Banega Crorepati 4.
Won't that divide viewership and hence reduce the channel's TRPs? "We are confident of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3. The KBC brand is a tried and tested one," adds a source from the channel airing KBC.
Undoubtedly, both Salman and Amitabh are seasoned hosts of popular television programmes. While Bachchan's baritone voice and grand style is unmatchable, Salman's connectivity with the viewers is a huge bonus.
News travels very fast in the glamour world, and we hear that the broadcaster of Bigg Boss is already aware of the competitive channel's game plan. The battle lines are clearly drawn, unless, of course, one of the rivals develops cold feet and takes a step back.
Ajit Thakur and Ashwini Yardi, the head honchos of both the channels in question, chose to remain silent on the matter.
