Ram Gopal Varma seems to have kicked the hornet’s nest by picking up a controversial theme for his next movie Rakta Charitra, starring Vivek Oberoi as a character modelled on Paritala Ravi, the slain TDP MLA from Anantpur district. The film maker was first sent a legal notice by the family of Paritala’s rival S Obul Reddy, who was also slain, for a negative depiction of Reddy’s character which is played by actor Abhimanyu Singh.
While Varma had made light of the legal notice by saying that even if Reddy’s ghost comes to haunt him, he’ll not be afraid.
But now, the rumour is that Varma has been getting threatening calls, including death threats, from an anonymous caller. Varma now plans to speak to the Andhra Pradesh police regarding the matter. The film is slated to release in October.
