After a series of films that have not really sent the box-office cash registers ringing, actor Akshay Kumar seems to be making some exceptions for his friends who have stood by him through thick and thin. Sources say that in times like these, when he needs that one big hit to regain his crown,
Kumar is relying on his old friends to bring back that lost magic at the box office.
Kumar is relying on his old friends to bring back that lost magic at the box office.
Recently, his pal Ganesh Acharya communicated to Kumar that he wanted him to launch the music of his new film, Angel. So Kumar who has been busy hosting an awards show and then shooting for Thank You and promoting another forthcoming film, decided to alter his schedule to make time for the music launch.
He apparently said that he would go to any length now to throw his support behind his old friends.
“Have I ever said no to friends? I will always be there to support my friends whenever they need me,” Kumar apparently said. Ganesh has choreographed many of Kumar’s hit songs through the past decade.
Says, Ganesh, “Very few people in the industry are like him. He is truly a gem... he has got so much in life and has still not forgotten his friends. He is hard-working and down-to-earth, just as he was when he first entered the industry. Not many people can remain like this with the kind of success that Akshay has tasted.”
Kumar, sources say, is ready to do another film with film-maker Farah Khan and is co-producing her film-maker husband Shirish Kunder’s film despite a few other actors having reportedly turned down the offer.
“Joker (the earlier title of the film) was turned down by a lot of leading actors including superstar Shah Rukh Khan. There came a point when Shirish didn’t have any lead actor because everybody had rejected the film. Now we hear that Akshay might co-produce and act in it,” says a source.
