Lindsay Lohan, denies allegations of stealing a necklace

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood singer and actress, Lindsay Lohan, has denied allegations of stealing a necklace, claiming that the jewelry store let her borrow the necklace, and her stylist simply failed to return it.

The 24-year old singer and actress could be facing years in prison if she is charged and convicted of stealing a $2,500 "one of a kind" necklace from a Venice, California jewelry store.

As of now, the decision has not yet been made to charge Lohan. "The case remains under review," Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said on Saturday. "When we make a decision, we will let everyone know."

According to police, "Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific area obtained a search warrant on February 1, 2011, for actress Lindsay Lohan's Venice residence, to search for the necklace."

In a statement directed at the media, Lohan's criminal defense attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told People, "We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press." - The News
