The petition was filed in the court of chief judicial magistrate of Sawai-Madhopur on Monday by advocate Ashok Sharma. The magistrate has ordered the hearing on October 30. Brand and Perry, who were here for four days to solemnize their Hindu-style wedding, left Jaipur for honeymoon in Maldives. Their friends named in the complaint have also left India.
Sharma, who runs Ranthambore Park Bachao Samiti, alleged in his petition that Brand and Perry committed gross violation of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act. They violated noise pollution norms and illuminated the resort in which they were staying. Their marriage was performed beyond the stipulated limit of 10pm last Saturday. The petitioner Sharma said it was gross violation of Sections 29, 30, 31 and 32 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and is punishable under the act.
The dramatic exit of the star couple, Russell Brand and Katy Perry, from Ranthambhore on Monday whipped up another controversy as the duo left on a helicopter booked for airlifting a patient. A complaint was filed against six persons, including the newlywed couple at chief judicial magistrate, Sawai Madhopur for violating the Wildlife Protection Act by Akshay Sharma, president of Ranthambhore Bagh Bachao Aandolan.
British actor Russell Brand and pop singer Katy Perry, who had tied knot on Saturday, boarded a helicopter near Ranthambhore National Park and arrived in Jaipur, where they took a chartered flight to the Maldives.
According to sources, the hotel authorities [in which the stars were staying] on Monday afternoon sought permission from the district administration for landing helicopter stating that a patient from Ranthambhore needed to be shifted to Jaipur.
However, almost in a theatrical way, the Brand-Perry couple boarded the helicopter and left Ranthambhore.
Talking to media, Sawai Madhopur collector Ravi Kumar emphasised, "I gave permission for special landing of the helicopter to the hotel administration as they need to shift a patient to Jaipur. I am not concerned about who was travelling with the patient."
Meanwhile, Sharma filed a complaint against the star couple stating that the national park witnessed sound pollution during the marriage ceremony. The fire crackers that were burst and the loud music flouted the Supreme Court's direction on limiting noise pollution in the area.
A committee, formed by the district administration to monitor the sound produced during the marriage celebration also submitted its report to the district collector.
