Apple will be ditching the glass back for the iPhone 5 for an aluminum back, a report from the Economic News Daily of Taiwan says.
The publication, citing a Chinese source who has reportedly confirmed the plan by Apple,
says that problems with scratches, white paint and weight of the back panel on the iPhone’s glass back are the cause of the plan.
The same report also says that the iPhone 5 will be equipped with Apple’s A5 processor. The recently-launched iPad 2 is also equipped with the A5 chip.
The Daily says that the Chinese source said that Apple will be utilizing an iPod Touch-like design for the next generation of its hit iPhone.
This means that Apple may also have plans of abandoning the steel external frame of the iPhone 4 which caused Apple nightmares due to the ‘death grip’ issue.
The publication says that a special resin will be utilized for the Apple logo at the back of the iPhone 5 which will act as a means for cellular and Wi-Fi signals to travel through.
