Smoking chimp lived a long life

A chimpanzee addicted to smoking cigarettes has died aged 52 - after living ten years longer than the average ape. Charlie the Smoking Chimp became famous around the world after picking up the bad habit from visitors to his South African zoo. Qondile Khedama, from Mangaung Zoo, near Bloemfontein, said Charlie was only an "occasional smoker". She explained the zoo discouraged the practice, but visitors threw the ape lit cigarettes through his bars, reports media.

Film album review: Action Replayy

Action Replayy is Indian science-fiction romantic-comedy film being directed by Vipul Shah and starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. Neha Dhupia, Om Puri, Kirron Kher, Randhir Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav play supporting roles in the film. It is based on the 1994 Gujarati Indian play Action Replay. The film is slated for release coinciding with Diwali 2010.

Rahat records another song for B’wood

Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was in Mumbai recently to sing for the film, Satrangee Parachute. The song is a lullaby sung in a male’s voice. Smiles Khan, “May be I have a sweet voice and that’s why I was asked to sing it.”  Says producer Vineet Khetrapal, “I asked Rahatji if we could get two children from Chote Ustaad to sing one of the songs with him. He picked Mair from Pakistan and Mayuri from India.”

Allah Ke Banday promises good music

Multiple composers and lyricists have come together to make the soundtrack of Sharman Joshi- starrer "Allah Ke Banday" and they defy the old saying that too many cooks spoil the broth. Each song of the film has its distinctive character and is entertaining in its own right. The film, slated to hit screens Oct 22, boasts of six tracks. "Maula" crooned by Hamza Faruqui and Krishna opens the album with a bang. The Sufi rock number is already making its presence felt on radio stations and television channels.

Lady Gaga ‘more powerful’ than Pelosi

The Forbes list of the world's most powerful women includes Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, Beyonce Knowles and Ellen DeGeneres, all of whom apparently wield more power than the woman who is second in line for U.S. president. The annual list, released late Wednesday, places Winfrey third. The talk-show queen is worth $2.7 billion and earned $315 million in the past year, but beyond wealth Forbes takes into account executive position, creative influence and entrepreneurship.
